The District is once again providing residents the opportunity to purchase Ponderosa Pine trees that can be relocated from Casey Jones Park to your property. The trees are generally 3-25 feet tall and are in areas of the park that will see future development. Our hope is to relocate the trees within the Elizabeth Community now rather than cut them down in the future once planned park projects are initiated. District residents can purchase trees under 8 foot for $150 and trees over 8 foot for $250, which is a remarkable savings over tree nursery prices. There is a 10 – tree limit at this time. Residents must also arrange for and pay any associated costs for moving the trees. The District can provide contact information for tree contractors if needed.
This program is intended to keep the trees within the Elizabeth Community and to assist in expanding our tree canopy. Trees will require irrigation for up to the first three years after planting in your yard, and potentially longer based on precipitation levels and draught conditions. Call the park office at 303.646.3599 for more info or to get your trees now.
Construction has begun within Casey Jones Park to build the pickleball court complex and artificial turf ballfield. The District has accepted the proposal presented by FNF Construction and looks forward to working with them to build these exciting new park features. The project builds off of the Casey Jones Park master plan, which includes the relocation and improvement of the park access / roadway from County Road 17, as well as the addition of the artificial turf ballfield. The addition of the 4-pickleball courts, while not initially identified in the master plan, was the result of a request from residents to develop a pickleball facility in Elizabeth. The project will also include a shared parking lot for the two new amenities which will be located just south of the LDS Church. This project is proudly being funded through the District's existing budget and financial resources as we continue to serve residents within our current means. We really look forward to opening these new community amenities as soon as we can and continuing to make the Elizabeth Community an even greater place to live.
The disc-golf course in Evan’s Park will be closed from March 25 until Memorial Day weekend to allow for the growth of spring flora and to give wildlife a break. It also gives us a chance to assess and complete needed improvements to the course. This closure occurs each year and is an important management tool in ensuring the long-term sustainability of the course. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to seeing you this summer.
